Places to eat:
The
nearest place is the "Drum and Monkey" in Kenn. It is on the main
Clevedon to Yatton road. Its about a 20 minute walk from here so its
best to
drive. If you want to walk make sure you are well visible to motorists
and take a torch at night as there are no street lights or pavements
here. Like most places in the area, it usually stops serving food at
9pm. Since under new management
the food has improved and guests generally give good reports. However
recently it has had some spectacular "off" days, which is a pity. Some
of the staff
know where we are and others have never heard of us so don't rely on
them for directions.
The
other two popular places are the "Little Harp" and "The Moon and
Sixpence" in Clevedon. Both are on the sea front near the pier and both
have reasonable good pub food. The Moon and Sixpence has an indoor
balcony overlooking the Bristol Channel and its own car park. Generally guests like The Moon and Sixpence but there have been comments on the internet about rude and unhelpful staff. To get to
either follow your way back into Clevedon to the Tesco roundabout. Turn
left and follow your nose and eventually you'll see the sea and the
pier. The Little Harp will be on the left and the Moon and Sixpence on the right. The Old Inn, just as you leave Clevedon towards Portishead has also been recommended by guests occasionally.
In Clevedon near the Triangle are various
take-aways but according to our children, the best chip shop is in Yatton at the far end of Yatton
High Street. Yatton also has a Chinese takeaway.
There
are other restaurants in Clevedon which are more up-market such as
Murrays and Il Giordinos. For the latter you almost certainly have to
book in advance. The Salthouse is advertised as a family pub/restaurant
but unfortunately has developed a reputation for rowdiness. Further afield is the White Hart at Wrington (very nice) and the Ship and Castle and The Plough at Congresbury.
For
long term guests you may not want to go out every night
so we can usually arrange for you to pop something in our microwave etc.
